Presentation of written work

In addition to minimising errors, proof read your assignments to improve the readability of your work by:

Cover sheets

Most courses require assignments which are submitted din paper format to be accompanied by an official 'cover sheet'.

Frequently, these are available online and must be printed, completed and attached to the front of your assignment.

In addition, to identifying you and your course, the cover sheets are often used to record your grade and comments on your work made by the marker. A copy of the marked sheet may be needed by the school and your failure to attach a properly completed sheet may lead to a loss of marks.

Appropriate paper size, printing and page fasteners

An ability to follow directions and comply with all requirements of an assignment reflects on your academic integrity.

Check your study guide or with your lecturer for any specific requirements relating to:

Appropriate font size and style

Many courses require assignments to be typed using a particular typeface and font size. Failure to comply will reflect poorly on your academic integrity. Check your study guide or with your lecturer for any specific requirements about font size and size.

Printing with appropriate line spacing

Courses may require assignments to be type faced using 1.5 or double line spacing. Markers frequently use space between lines to comment on the content and structure of work.

Failure to provide adequate space will reflect poorly on your ability to follow directions (or use a word processor) and may deprive you of constructive comments about your work.

Printing with appropriate margin widths

Some courses require assignments to be typed with specific margins at the top, bottom and both sides of the page.
